Live padel scoreboard on TV: setting up PadelDraw TV mode

Show live pairings and standings on your club TV: open padeldraw.app/tv, then pair the 6-digit code from the app. A setup guide for smart TVs, streaming sticks and laptops.

On tournament night, the questions you hear most are probably "Which court am I on?" and "Where am I in the standings?" Rather than answering them one by one, put a live scoreboard on the TV at your club. It takes the pressure off you and gives the whole evening a proper tournament feel. Between matches, players glance at the screen, see who's up next and follow their place in the table.

That's exactly what PadelDraw's TV mode is for. This guide covers what you need, how to set it up step by step, and how to fix the most common hiccups.

What shows on the TV?

TV mode takes the information from the tournament's live page and lays it out for a big screen:

  • Pairings for the current round, by court
  • A standings table that updates as scores are entered

Scores are entered from the organizer's phone, the web panel or other authorised devices; the TV only displays them. Nobody needs to stand next to the screen.

What you need

TV mode runs in a web browser, with no separate app to install. Almost any screen that can open a browser and connect to the internet will do:

SetupHow it worksGood to know
Smart TVOpen the TV's built-in browserFewest cables, quickest setup
Streaming device such as Chromecast or Fire TVUse a web browser installed on the deviceA browser app needs to be available on it
Mini PCConnect to the TV via HDMI and open the browser full screenHandy for a permanent installation
LaptopConnect to the TV with an HDMI cableIdeal for a one-off event

You'll also need the organizer's phone or computer, signed in to the account that runs the tournament. That's where you do the pairing.

Step-by-step setup

  1. Create the tournament. If you haven't yet, set it up in the panel and add your players. Our tournament checklist walks you through the prep.
  2. Open the browser on the TV. Whether it's a smart TV, a streaming device, a mini PC or a laptop over HDMI, launch its browser.
  3. Go to the address. Type padeldraw.app/tv into the address bar. A 6-digit pairing code appears on screen.
  4. Pair it from the app. As the organizer, open the TV pairing option inside your tournament and enter the 6-digit code shown on the screen.
  5. Check the screen. Once paired, the TV switches to the tournament's live view. From then on, every score entered shows up on screen.

Typing a long URL with a TV remote is a pain, which is why the address is short. Do the setup before the tournament starts so the screen is ready when players arrive.

Practical tips

  • Put the screen where people look. On the way to and from the courts, or in the waiting area, is ideal.
  • Turn off screensavers and sleep mode. Some TVs and computers dim the screen after a while; make sure it stays on for the whole event.
  • Go full screen. On a mini PC or laptop, full-screen mode hides the address bar and tabs and makes the table easier to read.
  • Test the connection beforehand. If the club Wi-Fi is weak where the TV sits, a wired connection or moving the screen can help.
  • Check readability from a distance. After setup, look at the screen from beside the courts or the waiting area. If the text is hard to read, move the screen closer or use a bigger TV.
  • Have a fallback. If the TV plays up, players can follow the same information on the tournament's live page on their phones, so keep the join link or QR code somewhere visible.

Troubleshooting

The code doesn't appear. Make sure the page has fully loaded and the TV is connected to the internet. Refreshing the page usually does it.

I entered the code but it didn't pair. Check that you entered it from within the right tournament and typed all six digits. If needed, refresh the page on the TV to get a new code.

Scores aren't updating on screen. Check the TV's connection and refresh the page. Make sure scores are being entered into the right tournament.

There's no browser, or the page doesn't display properly. Some older smart TVs have limited browsers. In that case, a laptop or mini PC over HDMI is the most reliable option.

TV mode for clubs

Today, TV mode shows a tournament's pairings and standings in a clean layout, and with the club panel you can pair your lobby screens to your club using a 6-digit code. Sponsor scenes and multiple scene sets for different screens are planned for the paid club plans, which are coming soon. See what the club panel offers on the clubs page.

In short

  • TV mode needs no separate app: open padeldraw.app/tv in the screen's browser.
  • Enter the 6-digit code from the screen in the app, as the organizer.
  • A smart TV, a browser on a streaming device, a mini PC or a laptop over HDMI all work.
  • Disable sleep mode, go full screen and test the connection first.
  • Sponsor scenes are planned for the paid club plans, which are coming soon.
